Whether you’re considering what roof to have on your new conservatory or if you’re thinking of replacing your existing roof, there are a few options for you to consider. Traditionally, conservatory roofs were made from glass. However, since the Building Regulations’ definition of a conservatory was changed in 2010, tiled and solid conservatory roofs have become more prominent throughout the country.
So, what exactly is a Supalite roof?
Simply put, the Supalite tiled roof is one of the most popular conservatory roof systems on the market today. The roof’s design is the reason many homeowners are considering it as part of a new extension or retrofitted to replace the roof on their existing conservatory. The design features multiple layers of insulation that retains warmth. This makes the roof considerably more thermally efficient than other glazed options.
How thermally efficient is a Supalite roof?
The most commonly used measure of a roof’s thermal efficiency is U-value. The lower the value, the better an object can retain heat. A glazed conservatory roof can achieve a U-value of around 1.0 m²K/W and a normal house roof boasts a U-value of around 0.11 m²K/W. The U-value of a Supalite tiled conservatory roof is an outstanding 0.18 m²K/W. This means that the roof will save you money on heating bills and significantly increase the comfort of your living space.
